The Atlas of Transboundary Animal Diseases is intended to assist Veterinary Service field staffs involved in animal disease surveillance and diagnostics in identifying important transboundary diseases of livestock. The focus of this publication is on key images of clinical signs and post mortem lesions associated with 29 OIE notifiable animal diseases supplemented by basic disease information from the OIE technical disease cards. Input for this consolidated reference volume comes from OIE's global network of veterinary epidemiologists and diagnostic experts and the support of APHIS-USDA.

Terrestrial Animal Health Code

The aim of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (Terrestrial Code) is to contribute to improve animal health and welfare worldwide and to assure the sanitary safety of international trade in animals (mammals, birds and bees) and their products. This is achieved through the detailing of health measures to be used by the Veterinary Authorities of importing and exporting countries to avoid the transfer of agents pathogenic for animals or humans, while avoiding unjustified trade barriers. 

Aquatic Animal Health Code

The aim of the Aquatic Animal Health Code (Aquatic Code) is to contribute to improve animal health and welfare of aquatic animals worldwide and to assure the sanitary safety of international trade in aquatic animals (amphibians, crustaceans, fish and molluscs) and their products. This is achieved through the detailing of health measures to be used by the Competent Authorities of importing and exporting countries to avoid the transfer of agents pathogenic for aquatic animals or humans, while avoiding unjustified trade barriers.

Scientific and Technical Review 30 (3)

Volume 30 (3) of the Scientific and Technical Review contains 30 articles submitted by experts from across the world. The articles describe different animal disease surveillance strategies and the control and elimination of important animal diseases. Other topics covered include epidemiology, risk analysis, diagnosis, vaccines and various aspects of animal welfare.

The Review also provides a unique opportunity to publish reports on the situation of various animal diseases in the world, in particular in countries whose animal health situation is rarely reported in the literature.

These proceedings address the worldwide implementation of the OIE Animal Welfare standards for the transport of livestock by land, sea and air; the slaughter of animals for human consumption and the killing of animals for disease control purposes. This conference brought together experts who are actively involved in the implementation of animal welfare policies in their countries to share their experiences on the implementation of the OIE standards.
